Not advice
StayDayCheck provides general information and calculators. Nothing on this site is legal, immigration or tax advice, and using it does not create any adviser-client relationship.
Results are estimates
- Results depend entirely on the dates you enter. A wrong or missing date gives a wrong result.
- The Schengen calculator applies the general 90/180 rule of the Schengen Borders Code. It does not know your visa conditions, any bilateral agreement, or your personal situation.
- The 183-day counter only counts days. Whether you are tax resident, and where you pay tax, depends on national laws, tax treaties and facts it does not know.
The authorities decide
Official rule
The European Commission's own calculator "is a helping tool only; it does not constitute a right to stay for a period resulting from its calculation. It is always for the Member States' competent authorities (in particular for the border guards) [...] to make a decision on the length of the authorised stay or on the overstay."
(source: European Commission, calculator user manual)The same applies to our tools, all the more since we are not an official service. For an official answer, use the European Commission short-stay calculator or the EES tool Check how long you can stay, or ask the authorities of the country concerned. For taxes, ask the tax authority concerned or a qualified adviser.
Rules change
Each page shows when its content was last updated and when its official sources were last checked. Rules and official timelines (for example for ETIAS) can change after that date: always check the official source linked on the page.
Liability
We do our best to keep the tools accurate, test them against the official worked examples, and correct errors quickly when they are reported. To the extent permitted by law, we cannot be held liable for decisions you take based on this site.
